Noor Issa – Fine Arts
Name: Noor issa
Education: Fine arts Rietveld Academy
How do you describe your work?
My paintings are mostly abstract and consist of a variety of colors, dots, circles and patterns. In my performances I am using my body as a tool among other objects, sharing a space. Experimenting with images and sounds layered in an abstract way in my videos and installations, I aim to creating a narrative – of memories, emotions, and fantasy.
What materials / media do you use and why?
I use different media such as painting, photography, performance, installation, and video with the intention of finding universal visual forms to share my personal experiences.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I aim at addressing and expressing my personal experiences of growing up in a conservative family and society. Moving around at a young age, I soon realized that the countries I encountered were limiting my freedom based on the label I got as a tourist, guest, migrant, refugee and exchange student.
Traveling and socializing among different places and cultures has become what inspired me most in my work.
Is there someone you look up to?
What are your ambitions for the next five years?
To have my art reach more countries around the world and to sell more art
